Erin was invited by Wrenathon Creative Producer, Holly Hunter, to create a fresh and dynamic artwork that reflected the ethos of the festival.
“My inspiration for the artwork was the different types of choirs and people that will make up the event and the decorative baroque elements of Wren’s architecture in small decorative details in the people such as a dome tiered earring, a twirled moustache or an elaborate hairstyle hinting at Wren’s Baroque decorative elements to create a playful, fun, poster with the focus on the many wonderful people who make up the choirs of the event.”
“I was trying to convey the decorative baroque elements of Wren’s architecture style with and within the different types of choirs and people that will make up the singing events!
I started by taking abstract elements of Wren’s architecture and thinking about how I could playfully incorporate them into aspects of the choir’s clothing or hairstyles or jewellery etc. to combine the two elements of Wren’s architecture and the many choirs which will be taking part in the events in a fun, colourful way.”
“The Wrenathon celebrates the power music has to bring people together and represents the myriad of different singing communities across London and beyond. I am excited to present such a wide range of vocal music, sung by people from all walks of life, in the beautiful Wren churches of the Square Mile. The Wrenathon illustration designed by artist Erin Aniker encapsulates the vibrancy and joy that singing brings to us all.”
